Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow Undergoes Surgery to Repair Torn Wrist Ligament
Burrow Expected to Miss Remainder of 2023 Season
Recovery Timetable TBD
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow underwent successful surgery on Monday to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, the team announced. Burrow suffered the injury in a 34-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
According to head coach Zac Taylor, Burrow is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season. A more specific recovery timetable will be determined after further evaluation.
This is the second time Burrow has undergone surgery to repair a torn ligament in his wrist. He suffered a similar injury in his right wrist in 2020, which forced him to miss the final six games of the season.
Burrow's injury is a major blow to the Bengals, who are currently 8-4 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Backup quarterback Brandon Allen is expected to start in Burrow's absence.
