The beloved karate series "Cobra Kai" will return for a sixth and final season on Netflix. The announcement was made in a letter to fans from executive producers Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.
The sixth season will consist of 15 episodes and will be the biggest season of Cobra Kai yet, according to the producers. "We're going out with a bang," they wrote.
Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Xolo Maridueña, and Courtney Henggeler. The series follows the rivalry between former karate champions Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) as they reopen their dojos. The series has received critical acclaim, receiving nominations for multiple People's Choice and Emmy awards. It also topped viewership charts on Netflix.
In the sixth season, old wounds begin to heal at a country club Christmas party, but a brutal assault by Kreese's students leads to new betrayals and alliances. The season will feature the return of several fan-favorite characters, including Martin Kove as John Kreese and Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver.
The producers said that they are grateful to Netflix for giving them the opportunity to conclude the series on their own terms. "We couldn't be more excited to share this final chapter with the fans who have been with us since the beginning," they wrote.
