Camp Nou: Home of FC Barcelona
About Camp Nou
Spotify Camp Nou, also known as the Nou Camp, is a stadium in Barcelona, Spain. It has been the home of La Liga club FC Barcelona since its official opening on September 24, 1957. Camp Nou replaced FC Barcelona's old stadium, Les Corts.
Capacity and Features
Camp Nou has a capacity of approximately 105,000 spectators and features modern amenities and services. It has an open façade formed by three concourse rings with a sloping roof.
History
The idea for a new stadium was first proposed in the 1950s, as Les Corts had become too small for the club's growing fan base. Construction of Camp Nou began in 1954 and was completed in 1957 at a cost of 288 million pesetas.
Camp Nou has hosted numerous important matches over the years, including the 1982 FIFA World Cup Final and the 1992 Summer Olympics football final. It has also been the venue for concerts by music legends such as U2, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna.
Renovation Plans
In 2017, FC Barcelona announced plans to renovate Camp Nou as part of a larger project called Espai Barça. The renovation will increase the stadium's capacity to 105,000 and add new features such as a retractable roof and a 360-degree video screen.
