Joseph Lee Burrow, born December 10, 1996, is an American football quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). Known for his exceptional leadership and impressive play, Burrow has made a significant impact on the NFL and is recognized as one of its top quarterbacks.
Burrow's journey to the NFL began with his collegiate career at Louisiana State University (LSU). As the starting quarterback for LSU, he led the team to an undefeated season and a National Championship title in 2019. His outstanding performance earned him the Heisman Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding college football player in the United States.
After graduating from LSU, Burrow was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite missing his entire rookie season due to an injury, Burrow returned in the 2021 season and quickly established himself as a rising star in the league. He led the Bengals to their first playoff appearance in six years and won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award.
Burrow's success continued in the 2022 season as he guided the Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1989. Although they ultimately fell short of winning the championship, Burrow's performance throughout the season solidified his status as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL.
In September 2023, Burrow made NFL history by signing a five-year contract extension with the Bengals worth $275 million, including $219.01 million guaranteed. This contract made Burrow the highest-paid player in NFL history, a testament to his exceptional talent and leadership abilities.
